Today we introduce the Main Methods of Testing E-cap Lifetime. 

Usually we have two methods for testing lifetime, please find more detail information as below:

1. Normal testing: (Periodic sampling is conducted every four months)
The environment temperature test: 20 ℃~25 ℃     
Relative humidity: 45%-75%    
Relative air pressure: 86kpa-106 kpa 
Inspection items: High temperature 105 ℃ storage 3000 Hours      
High temperature life test the durability:  3000 Hours 

For above test, we have exact equipment for testing, after testing, the real test data can prove the product of real lifetime. 

2. Destructive testing: (do the regular sampling inspection every 2 months)
Put the capacitors in the oven, the temperature raise 10 degrees (for example: if the capacitors' oringinal temperature is 105 ℃, it needs rise to 115 ℃). 
let current go through (should be the capacitor's current),  then the capacitors' lifetime will decay half. (it means, 3000 Hours becomes 1500 hours), after testing 63 days, will take out capacitors and see if it can still work or not.

Basic construction:
1, Two pieces of foils interleaved with an absorbent paper build up the key element of an Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitor, and all these materials should be wound tightly into a cylinder shape
2, The positive foil, or the anode foil are all made from pure aluminium foil. The aluminium oxide dielectric has been formed electrolytically on the surface.. 
3, The foil has been etched to make the effective surface area more larger, and the area of the anode is usually 30–100 times larger than the plan area of the foil.

4, The other plate is a combination of high-absorption paper impregnated with an electrolyte, in contact with a cathode foil. 
5, The electrolyte is there to make good contact with the anode, by permeating its etched structure, and also to repair any flaws in the oxide layer when the capacitor is polarised. 
6, The function of the aluminium cathode foil is to reduce the series resistance of the capacitor by making contact with the paper over a wide area.

A capacitor is a small device that can be charged up with electrical energy, store it and then release it. Just like a rechargeable battery. But unlike a battery, it does not use a chemical reaction and it can only hold a very small charge. A very large capacitor can only light up an LED for a few seconds. They come in many shapes and sizes and a few are shown below. The bigger the capacitor, the more charge it will hold. Capacitor is made from two metal plates or metal foils separated by an insulator called a Dielectric material.

The Dielectric materials can be made from Ceramic, Mica, Polypropylene, Polyester, Electrolytic, Tantalum and even air.

The larger capacitors look like tubes, this is because the metal foil plates are rolled up with an insulating dielectric material sandwiched in between.

The value of capacitance is determined by

1.The size of the plates,

2.The distance between them,

3.The type of dilectric material used.

The construction of glass dielectric capacitors is relatively straightforward to understand. The capacitor consists of three basic elements: the glass dielectric, aluminium electrodes and the encapsulation. However the assembly of the glass capacitors is undertaken in a manner that ensures the required performance is obtained.

As the capacitance between two plates is not always sufficient to provide the required level of performance, the majority of capacitors use a multiplayer construction to provide several layers of plates with interspersed dielectric to give the required capacitance.
